With the season long over, and the Stanley Cup touring around, it’s just about time to look ahead. Caps fans remember that the core of this team is intact and they will hit the ice all business. Competitors hate to fall short of a goal and the Capitals made it clear last season that Lord Stanley was in their crosshairs.

Atlantic Division Part I: the Philadelphia Flyers

The Atlantic division seems to have gotten a little grittier this off-season. I’m specifically thinking about Philly and Pitt. I’ll start with Philadelphia since I’m far more familiar with them. (Okay it helps to know quite a few people in the press corps there….)

While I do believe that unnecessary head shots and illegal boarding acts need to be policed better and enforced equally, fighting in hockey is like peanut butter and jelly. They just go together.
