OVECHKIN FURY

May 5th, 2009 | by Scott Madore |

Alex Ovechkin just seemed to absolutely thrive off of the head-to-head combat with ‘Sid the Kid’ in their Game 2 showdown. It was almost like a back and forth seesaw battle that saw the two superstars trading goals back and forth.  They just seemed to push one another to do better and that is great for the series, the fans and for the great game of hockey!

Subtract Ovie’s three goals and the Caps lose 3-1. Subtract Crosby’s hat trick and the Pens have nothing on the board. These two were no doubt the stories of Game 2. Crosby now has 8-goals in the playoffs (in 8 games) so far after scoring just six all of last year’s playoffs (20 games) en route to the Stanley Cup Finals. Ovechkin is right on Sid’s tail with 7-goals, good for second in these playoffs.

Public Enemy said back in the late 80’s – “Don’t Believe The Hype”. Little did they know twenty years later that Crosby & Ovechkin would be meeting in the playoffs and trading hat tricks.
