CAPS OFF TO A ROARING START

After defeating the Eastern Conference champion Boston Bruins in their season opener, the Capitals looked equally impressive in game number two.
On his first shot, 1:17 into the game, Ovechkin ripped a wrist shot through the legs of Leafs goaltender Vesa Toskala, getting the crowd into the game early. The Caps lit up the Leafs, taking a 6-1 lead after two periods. Then, the Leafs outscored the Caps 3-0 in the third period, making it a 6-4 final.
Varlamov was beaten three times on six shots in the third, but was otherwise solid. It seems that coach Boudreau will rotate his goaltenders until one comes out on top and grabs the No. 1 job. The first game Theodore played, he beat the Boston Bruins in the season opener. In the Caps second game, Varlamov came out with the win over the Leafs.

With goaltending being the Caps only so called weakness, this could get interesting…
